Welcome to my webpage about one of my favorite directors of all time, John Woo. Whats so particularly special about this director is the way he films action scenes, theres little to no jittery cam like you see in a lot of action films but instead swapping those for more smooth pans in intense action scenes giving it a very contrasting feeling, almost like a bull in a china shop. An additional thing he does for his movies is practically 0 cgi all of the things that happen in his movies really happen, sets being blown apart by gunfire, squibs going off left and right, people diving and flipping like professional acrobats, it all makes for extremely cinematic and oddly beutiful action scenes where it looks like an art show instead of an intense and violent movie scene. You also cant forget that John Woo practically pioneered showing the "action" and the "reaction" all in one shot, Essentially showing the firearm (the action) and the person under fire (the reaction) in a singular shot. Not only that but more often than not John Woo's movies explore themes of brotherhood and betrayal and how not every action hero is some mute badass who couldnt care less, but there people with real emotions and feelings.
